Who will be the next Mayor of Brownsville?

We are still four months from the beginning of qualifying period and two people, John Ashworth and Jo Matherne, have already thrown their hats into the ring and announced they will run for the position of Mayor of Brownsville in 2010. What are you looking for in the next mayor? What qualifications do you believe are essential for our elected officials? And what direction do you want to see our city (and county) move in - in the next year, 5 years and even beyond?

    the next mayor needs to be a people person, someone who wants to work & must have a vision of where the city should be going, it is essential that the next mayor gets out and does his or her best to get the city going in the right direction. we need new ideas,new goals, and new leadership.
